The low-cost
airline Ryanair flies to Dinard from Stansted and East Midlands
airports. Car hire is available at reasonable rates through their
site www.ryanair.com or through a number of the usual operators.
The journey to the Manoir de Kercadic usually takes about an hour
and a quarter on the faster route or an hour and a half if you come
the pretty way! (However, beware of the traffic through St Brieuc
during the 6-7pm rush hour as you can be delayed here) The airport
is actually at Pleurtuit, to the south west of Dinard, but it is
close enough to both Dinard and St Malo if you have time for a visit.
Dinard is a very small airport and it is extremely difficult to
get lost here!
For the faster route: Turn right out of the airport towards Pleurtuit.
This is the D64, a country road that you stay on for about one and
a half miles until you reach the small town of Pleurtuit. As you
enter the town, there is a junction where you turn right, onto the
D266 towards Pleslin. Go through the town, following signs to Pleslin
and Dinan.
Continue through Trémereuc and Pleslin until you join the
N176 where you turn towards DINAN and ST BRIEUC. Ignore any signs
to Dinan town centre and continue towards ST BRIEUC on the N176.
For the more scenic but slower route: Turn left out of the airport
and left again at the T junction onto the D168 towards PLOUBALAY.
Go through the town of PLOUBALAY, keeping on the main road towards
PLANCOET. After about 2 and a half kilometres, the road divides
and you have a choice: you can follow the coast road through N.D
du Guildo, Matignon, Fréhel etc on the D786, which is very
picturesque and allows you to deviate to the small coastal towns,
if time allows. The alternative is to take the D768 inland through
Plancoet, St Denoual etc.
Either route will take you to the N12, where you should follow the
signs towards ST BRIEUC and BREST.
Stay on the N12 heading towards Brest as you by-pass St Brieuc,
and you will soon see signs for Guingamp.
About
15 minutes after passing St Brieuc you will see a sign showing Guingamp
7km, then 2 km later the C10 exit, then after a further 2 km the
D5 Bellevue exit (Guingamp Est) which you should take.
As you leave the N12 at the D5 exit be prepared for the give way
sign some 300 metres up the exit slip road. Immediately after this
take the right turn in the direction of Paimpol, Pontrieux.
Go straight across the next three roundabouts, following signs to
Pabu. This puts you on a by-pass for about 2 minutes, at the end
of which is a fourth roundabout where you take the right exit -
the D787 marked to Pabu, Pontrieux.
You will
shortly pass the village sign for Pabu, but don't follow the right
turn to Pabu centre, stay on the main road through Pabu and down
the long hill after leaving the village.
In another minute you will come to a cross-roads with a restaurant
on the right (The Ty Coat), there is a small island in the centre
of the road, and you should pull over to take the left turn to Squiffiec.
Follow this road as it crosses the river and you will arrive at
the cross-roads in the centre of Squiffiec in another minute or
so. Slow down as you enter the village so that you don’t miss
the crossroads in the village centre. There is a bar (The Garfield)
at the cross-roads where you turn right; there is a blue sign here
indicating The Manoir de Kercadic.
After
300 metres take the right turn indicated to Manoir de Kercadic.
After 100 metres turn left, and after a further 300 metres turn
right.
You will then see
the dolmen and Manoir de Kercadic on your left. |
